Cottage in Arundel

Castle Charm

Welcome home! Step through your front door and close the world behind.  Enjoy your charming, characterful 3 bedroom cottage in Arundel, Abercrombie Mews on Queen Street.

Arundel, on the banks of the River Arun, is one of the finest historic towns in the South of England.  It boasts a medieval castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Norfolk, and fine walks. Swanbourne Lake is popular with residents and visitors. Feel the pull of the quaint town centre, with its independent shops, cafes and restaurants, antique shops and pubs.

Presented to the market with no onward chain, ‘Angel Cottage’ is in the perfect location for visiting the town centre and surroundings.  View the stunning castle, standing mighty in the historic market town, recently used for filming ‘Wicked Little Letters’, starring Olivia Coleman and Jessie Buckley.

Gateway to the South Downs National Park

This quaint historic town is gateway to the South Downs National Park.  Excellent as a ‘lock up and leave’ or main residence, the property benefits from parking for one vehicle at the rear.  The cottage is also suitably located to the entrance of the local open swimming pool or Lido.

Blank Canvas

The interior is a blank canvas for you to style – would you go…

  • Vintage – using traditional furniture or living room chairs to enhance the cottage aesthetic.  Sit comfortably and enjoy the space!
  • Florals & Pastels – neutral or light pastel colours or floral patterns.  These work well on cottage living room furniture a la ‘Laura Ashley‘.
  • Natural Textiles – promoting a cosy ambiance, a connection with nature and the rural surroundings.  Simply take a walk to local Swanbourne Lake and feel the beauty of that connection.

Interior Design

With the number of local eateries, you may not wish to spend much time in the semi-open concept kitchen/breakfast room.  However, this room offers design opportunities to satisfy your way of living.

The open fireplace in the lounge/dining room is a focal point where you can enjoy relaxing.  Open the French doors to the rear patio, where you can enjoy down-time with friends and family and even catch the stunning sunrises and sunsets.

If you plan to work from home, three good-sized bedrooms on the first floor offer versatile accommodation for sleeping arrangements or home study/office.

Stunning Places to Visit

Located a short walk from Arundel Park, try the circular walk, river walks, The South Downs.  Anyone for Cricket?  Enjoy the fixtures at Arundel Cricket Club.  You’ll be spoilt for choice with The Cathedral Church of Our Lady and St Philip Howard located in Arundel, which was dedicated in 1873. The 14th century Norman church of St. Nicholas is ripe for church-crawling, an activity which has recently hit the headlines.  Learn about its art, architecture and history.  Enjoy the buzz of the market town centre with its monthly farmers’ market, award-winning restaurants and bars.  The broad selection of independent shops offer the chance to support the local economy and get to know your neighbours. Enjoy the uniqueness of the products on offer, as well as a variety of antiques, including furniture, glassware, jewellry and paintings.

Top Spot to Downsize

As reported by Fred Redwood in the Daily Mail, if you’re a nature lover, you’ll be spoilt for choice.  ‘Messing about on the river’ taking a boat trip along the River Arun and catching wild life along its banks brings a whole new meaning to the phrase.  Visit Arundel Wetland Centre to enjoy the sounds of nature at its best.

One of my favourite walks is from the castle to Swanbourne Lane.  The antics of the ducks and swans on the tiny stream along the footpath are mesmerizing.

Local Transport

Let the train take the strain! Arundel Railway Station offers services to London, Southampton, and Brighton, with connections to various locations.

If the car is your main choice of transport, the main A27 and A29 are virtually on your doorstep.  Visit Chichester, Goodwood, Portsmouth and Southampton for a day out – you’ll never be short of things to do, in and around Arundel.
